01 — THE FILM

Juni Learning approached us directly to create their first ad spot. We were immediately drawn to the creative brief because it would allow us to play with character and type design, which is such a juicy combo to dive into. Juni is an online learning experience that prepares kids 7-18 for the real world by teaching them the skills needed to succeed in the industries and career paths of the future. We went all out and combined 3D animation, motion graphics, and live-action to help highlight Juni's award-winning platform.

We were so happy with the design of our enthusiastic, purple-haired kid...I mean he has no neck and it works! And then it's all about creating fun transitions from each 3D type environment to the next and getting our character to enjoy the journey along with us.

02 — THE STORY

"We wanted to use Bold typefaces that are easy to read. And each word's meaning would be amplified by the animation concept. In typical Roof form, the 3D has a lot of details that merits repeat viewing. Although I decided to use solid colors for an easy and fast read, the result can almost be perceived as a purely graphic execution but all the texture details and the light are balancing and enriching the scene."

"The camera was a fundamental player in connecting all the scenes. So even though there were a lot of fast scenes and animated elements everywhere, it feels cohesive with a nice pace. You get the feeling that one main camera is fluidly driving the film. We achieved a nice flow and it is nice and pleasurable to watch."
